KATHMANDU, July 31: The Department of Passports (DoP) has started operating in two shifts after a sharp rise in the number of service seekers, extending its services from morning until night.
The DoP introduced the extended service hours from Thursday to manage the growing demand for applications for electronic passports (e-passports).

According to the DoP, additional personnel have been deployed to expedite passport applications, biometric data collection, and other related procedures.
The number of applicants has increased significantly since last week, particularly among those requiring passports for various purposes, including South Korea's Employment Permit System (EPS), leading to a substantial increase in the number of service seekers at the DoP.
The DoP has urged applicants to avoid unnecessary crowding and to visit its office only on the date and time specified in their application forms.
