PHC to begin scrutiny of 16 complaints against proposed CJ Sharma today

A PHC meeting scheduled for 8 AM will formally open the complaints lodged against Sharma, who has been recommended for the position of chief justice.

KATHMANDU, May 19: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) is set to begin deliberations today on 16 complaints filed against proposed Chief Justice Dr Manoj Sharma as part of the parliamentary hearing process.



A PHC meeting scheduled for 8 AM will formally open the complaints lodged against Sharma, who has been recommended for the position of chief justice. Earlier, on May 9, the committee had decided to invite public complaints by setting a 10-day deadline, during which a total of 16 complaints were registered.

According to PHC Chair Bodh Narayan Shrestha, the complaints will first be opened and then distributed among lawmakers for review. Discussions with the complainants are expected to begin around 10 AM.


Shrestha added that the committee meeting will continue after the initial review, and the parliamentary hearing process for proposed CJ Sharma will proceed accordingly.
