KATHMANDU, April 20: Prime Minister Balen Shah has instructed vice-chancellors to publish results within one month of completion of exam, for all levels from undergraduate to postgraduate.
The PM issued the directive during a meeting on Monday with the vice-chancellors of 11 universities under his chancellorship.
Shah emphasized that delays in publishing results waste students’ academic time and limit their access to opportunities. “Universities must be sensitive when it comes to examinations,” he said, urging institutions to adopt measures such as evaluating answer sheets at the provincial level if necessary to meet the one-month deadline.

He also directed authorities to immediately scrap the complicated equivalence system currently required by Tribhuvan University. Under the new approach, degrees from any university in Nepal will be automatically recognized without needing equivalence from Tribhuvan University.
Additionally, the Prime Minister ordered the removal of offices belonging to political party-affiliated student wings from university premises. He stated that security personnel should be deployed, if necessary, to vacate such offices from university buildings and land.
During the discussion, vice-chancellors raised concerns about the disruptive activities of politically affiliated student groups, stating that such interference has created an unfavorable working environment and lowered institutional morale.
They also urged the government to keep the academic sector free from partisan politics and to facilitate the removal of party-affiliated offices from campuses.
