PM Disaster Relief Fund crosses Rs 12 billion

KATHMANDU, Sept 10: The balance in the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund has crossed Rs 12.43 billion, with the fund receiving more than Rs 172.57 million and US$274,062 in the past 24 hours.



According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, nine bank accounts operated under the fund held deposits totaling more than Rs 9.14 billion as of 9:00 am Thursday.

Similarly, US$21,637,691 had been deposited in dollar accounts maintained at two banks.


The combined balance in the fund stood at Rs 12.433 billion, according to the office.


The fund received Rs 172.57 million and US$274,062 during the 24-hour period ending at 9:00 am Thursday.


Meanwhile, Rs 1 billion was recently released from the fund through the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by the floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems on August 26.
