KATHMANDU, May 21: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC on Thursday criticized Prime Minister Balen Shah, saying he appeared more like “the emperor of a separate island” rather than an integral part of Parliament.
Speaking during the special hour of the House of Representatives meeting, KC questioned whether Shah considered himself accountable to Parliament.

He expressed dissatisfaction over the Prime Minister’s absence from the House at a time when the government should be taking disaster management issues seriously. KC also noted that Shah is currently handling the responsibilities of the Home Ministry.
“Is the Prime Minister part of this Parliament or not? I do not know,” KC said in Parliament. “He seems more like the emperor of some separate island rather than an integral part of this Parliament.”
KC stressed that the government must pay serious attention to disaster management and warned that disorder cannot be corrected without clear plans and long-term policies.
He said effective reforms require concrete action plans and systematic implementation rather than temporary responses to recurring problems.
