KATHMANDU, May 26: Prime Minister Balen Shah has said his government is committed to improving the real and visible living standards of Nepali citizens.
According to Dipa Dahal, press and research advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shah made the remarks during a joint meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers with ambassadors from the European Union (EU), EU member states based in Kathmandu and New Delhi, and a few other foreign diplomats stationed in Kathmandu.
Prime Minister Shah said the government fully understands the urgency of the present moment and the responsibility entrusted to it. He added that the recent election results had given a clear and decisive mandate for governance reform and inclusive economic prosperity, while ensuring policy continuity.
Where there is government, there is corruption!
“Being new does not mean being completely disconnected from the past. We are fully committed to maintaining democratic values and political stability while ensuring Nepal’s policies remain clear, stable, and predictable,” Shah said, according to Dahal.
He reiterated that the government is committed to good governance and inclusive economic growth, adding that Nepal seeks to benefit from the global market, attract broader investment, simplify procedures, and promote innovation for sustainable development.
Shah also said Nepal will continue pursuing a balanced and pragmatic foreign policy, guided by mutual respect, sovereign equality, and shared prosperity with neighbours, development partners, and friendly countries.
He expressed gratitude to development partners and friendly nations for their continued support to Nepal’s development and said cooperation would be further strengthened in areas including trade, investment, green energy, climate change, tourism, and other key sectors.
During the meeting, diplomats from the EU and other countries welcomed Nepal’s peaceful elections and congratulated the Prime Minister on the new government’s mandate for governance and development. They also expressed readiness to expand cooperation and investment in Nepal for economic growth and prosperity.
