POKHARA, June 19: Pokhara Metropolitan City has announced a budget of Rs 7.15 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27.
Deputy Mayor Manju Devi Gurung presented a budget of Rs 7.152 billion during the municipality’s 19th Municipal Assembly. The budget is Rs 1.19 billion lower than the current fiscal year's allocation of Rs 8.35 billion.
Of the total budget, Rs 3.94 billion (55.1 percent) has been allocated for recurrent expenditure, while Rs 3.21 billion (44.9 percent) has been set aside for capital expenditure.

The metropolitan city expects to receive Rs 3.15 billion through fiscal transfers from the federal government, including Rs 2.61 billion in conditional grants, Rs 55 million in special grants, Rs 18.2 million in complementary grants, and Rs 493.7 million in fiscal equalisation grants, according to Deputy Mayor Gurung.
Similarly, Pokhara expects to receive Rs 91.5 million in fiscal transfers from the Gandaki Province government, including Rs 6 million in complementary grants, Rs 4 million in special grants, and Rs 81.5 million in fiscal equalisation grants.
The metropolitan city has projected Rs 3.87 billion in revenue mobilisation from tax-related sources. It expects to receive Rs 103.1 million through revenue sharing and Rs 2.48 billion from internal sources, Gurung said.
As in previous years, infrastructure development has received the largest share of the budget, with Rs 2.89 billion, accounting for 40.48 percent of the total allocation.
The metropolitan city has allocated Rs 724 million (10.12 percent) to be spent through ward offices. A further Rs 2.09 billion (29.36 percent) has been earmarked for social development.
Under social development, Rs 1.85 billion (25.95 percent) has been allocated for education and Rs 413.6 million (5.78 percent) for health.
The metropolitan city has also allocated Rs 1.10 billion (15.46 percent) for administrative and office operations as well as programme implementation.
