KATHMANDU, July 31: Police have clarified that Banthu Raut Kaderi, who was found dead on the premises of a temple in Sabaila Municipality-12 of Dhanusha district, was not a priest, contrary to reports circulating on social media and some media outlets.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Madhusudan Neupane of the District Police Office, Dhanusha, said the body recovered from the temple premises was identified as Kaderi’s. "The deceased was not a priest but a wanderer. A detailed investigation into the incident is underway, with a police team and sniffer dogs deployed at the site," he said.

Police have also urged people not to give a religious angle to the incident, stating that Kaderi used to sleep at the temple after working elsewhere. They said preliminary findings suggest it could be a criminal act and assured that those involved would be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
