Police seizes cash of Rs 1.95 million suspected over hundi

KATHMANDU, June 7: District Police Office Dhunche, Rasuwa recovered illegally transacted Nepali currency worth Rs 1.95 million.



The police arrested Mingmar Chiring Gurung-35 of Gosaikund-3 on charge of holding the aforementioned amount of cash of undisclosed source. According to the police, the police team deployed from the temporary police post at Gosainkund-6 Dhunche Bazaar in Rasuwa was checking the vehicle on the Pasang Lhamu highway road section.

The amount was found on Saturday when the sumo vehicle numbered BA1J 4807 on its way to Kathmandu was stopped and searched by the police. Of the confiscated amount, 1845 notes of denomination of 1,000 rupees, 213 notes of 500 rupees denomination and six notes of 100 rupees denomination were recovered from the bag carried by Gurung. He is suspected to have been involved in hundi businesses.
