KATHMANDU, May 31: The Meteorological Forecasting Division has indicated a significant chance of rainfall, particularly in the Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, due to the influence of a westerly low-pressure system.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), most Himalayan and hilly areas, including those in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, are experiencing cloudy conditions.
Some areas of Lumbini Province are receiving moderate rainfall, while light rain has been reported in parts of Gandaki and Karnali provinces.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the Himalayan and hilly regions, with partly cloudy conditions in the Terai. Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
Additionally, thunderstorms are likely at a few places in the Terai region of Madhesh Province and in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
Tonight, the Himalayan regions of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces are forecast to remain generally cloudy, while the hilly regions and the Terai of Lumbini Province will be partly cloudy.
The rest of the Terai is expected to remain mainly clear. However, light rain or snowfall may occur at a few places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as at isolated locations in Koshi and Bagmati provinces and parts of the Terai.
The DHM has advised the public to remain vigilant and stay updated on weather conditions due to the possibility of thunderstorms in parts of the Terai region of Lumbini Province.
