KATHMANDU, Sept. 4: The bodies of 1,287 people who died in the Rasuwa floods have been recovered.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 5,085 people remain missing. The highest number of bodies have been recovered in Chitwan at 359, followed by 219 in Nawalparasi East, 212 in Nawalparasi West, 184 in Nuwakot, 140 in Rasuwa, 72 in Gorkha, 63 in Dhading and 38 in Tanahun. So far, 96 of the recovered bodies have been identified.

A total of 21,421 security personnel have been mobilized in flood-affected areas. On Friday, two people were rescued alive from the tunnel of the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project. With this, the total number of people rescued has reached 13,093, according to the authority.
The Nepali Army has rescued 4,155 people, Nepal Police 4,068 and the Armed Police Force 4,870. The number of foreign nationals rescued has reached 303.
Currently, 4,521 people are staying at holding centers. Of them, 3,181 are in Nuwakot, 1,141 in Rasuwa and 199 in Dhading.
