Raw material for anticancer medicines exported from Nepal

CHITWAN, May 28: Zydin Biotech, a pharmaceutical company based in Bharatpur, Chitwan, has produced raw materials needed for anticancer medicines.    



Industry's Chairman Dr G Narayan Bahadur Chhetri said that the raw material is produced by installing state-of-the-art equipment and is being exported abroad. "We have exported the raw materials of anticancer medicines," Dr Chhetri said.

He said the factory was established at Rs 1.3 billion as a joint venture of industrialists. The industry located at Sharanpur in the Bharatpur Metropolitan City-16 has produced and exported anticancer medicines' raw materials to India. 


The factory has planned to produce around a dozen of raw materials for anticancer medicines, starting from two at present. 


According to Chhetri, the factory has produced paclitaxel and docetaxel as the raw materials to produce anticancer medicines. The company exported paclitaxel to India on Tuesday. It is said that the price of anticancer medicine raw material ranges from Rs 800,000 to Rs 2.5 million per kg. 


Chhetri shared that they are planning to export the anticancer medicine raw material to Pakistan, Bangladesh and other Asian countries.
