KATHMANDU, May 15: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Gyanendra Shahi has questioned how young people can become conscious citizens without understanding the responsibilities of the Prime Minister.
Taking to social media, Shahi argued that personality worship and blind devotion have historically led to incidents such as those seen on September 8 and 9. “How can youths become conscious citizens if they do not understand what the Prime Minister’s responsibility is?” he wrote.

He further said that when Parliament becomes weak, democracy weakens; and when democracy weakens, the voice of the people is also suppressed. According to him, this ultimately affects development and good governance.
“If Parliament becomes weak, democracy becomes weak, and when democracy becomes weak, the voice of the people becomes weak. When the voice of the people weakens, development weakens and good governance weakens,” he said.
