Member of the House of Representatives (HoR) from Dang-3 Kamal Subedi shared that the budget is allocated to manage land and other infrastructure to extend the runway to 2,500 meters. He added that the airport will be upgraded under the multi-year plan of the government.

He said that the airport could not be expanded in the past, as sufficient budget was not allocated. Large aircraft cannot land at Tarigaun airport, since the airport's runway is just 750 meters. Presently, only 19-seater Twin Otter planes land here and the flights are also not regular, HoR Member Subedi stated.

The calls for runway expansion were repeatedly made in the past to ensure regular flights and land larger aircraft, but the efforts could not be materialized.

The passengers from Dang and the nearby districts have to travel from Nepalgunj and Bhairahawa airports due to the lack of regular flights from Tarigaun.
