KATHMANDU, Feb 10: The District Administration Office (DAO) in Nawalparasi West has prohibited a planned election-centric program by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane, citing possible violation of the election code of conduct.
The DAO halted Lamichhane’s scheduled “public outreach and bell-greeting programme” for Tuesday, instructing organisers not to carry out any activity that could breach electoral regulations.

Lamichhane had reached the Rupandehi District Court to attend a hearing in cases related to cooperative fund embezzlement, organised crime and money laundering linked to the Supreme Cooperative on Monday. After the court appearance, he held a rally appealing to locals in a manner resembling election campaigning.
The Election Office in Rupandehi said he had only been granted permission for a roadside meet-and-greet, but Lamichhane went on to urge voters to support the RSP candidate through mass gathering.
Officials at the district election office said political parties are allowed to organise assemblies, processions, rallies and corner meetings only between February 16 and March 2, according to the election code of conduct.
