KATHMANDU, June 8: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has elected new district leadership in Gorkha, Khotang and Surkhet through its ongoing district conventions, with both fresh elections and unanimous selections shaping the party’s local structure.
In Gorkha, Suwarna Rokaha Chhetri has been elected district president through voting at the party’s first district convention that concluded on Sunday, according to party sources. Suk Bahadur Tamang was elected vice-president, while Milan Thapa and Yogendra Jung Basnet were chosen as secretary and joint secretary respectively.

In Khotang, Mukund Krishna Thapa has been re-elected district president for a second term. He was first selected for the post during the party’s district gathering held on December 28, 2024. In the latest convention, Gobinda Bhujel and Tara Dahal were elected unopposed as vice-president and treasurer, respectively. Parshuram Thapa and Rajan Adhikari were elected secretary and joint secretary, while Prakash Adhikari, Keshar Bahadur Shrestha and Chandra Bahadur Pariyar were selected as members of the district committee. Three women members will be nominated later to complete the 11-member committee.
Meanwhile, in Surkhet, Ramesh Kumar Sapkota has been elected district president unanimously at the party’s first district convention held in Birendranagar. Sapkota, who also serves as the RSP’s Surkhet-2 representative in the House of Representatives, was previously serving in the same position.
According to Sapkota, while the top post was decided unanimously, the remaining office-bearers and district committee members will be finalized by the party’s Election Committee. The Surkhet district working committee will consist of 13 members.
