KATHMANDU, June 26: Voting has begun to elect office bearers of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) during its First National General Convention underway in Chitwan, with several leaders competing for key positions.
The party is holding elections for five office-bearer posts, including vice-president, general secretary and joint general secretary positions.
RSP General Convention: Voting to take place tomorrow
For the women’s vice-president post, Sobita Gautam and Toshima Karki are competing, while Dr Swarnim Wagle has secured the men’s vice-president post unopposed after he was the only candidate to file nomination.
The race for general secretary has narrowed to four candidates — Bipin Acharya, Manish Jha, Ganesh Karki and Sagar Dhakal — following the withdrawal of several contenders.
In the male joint general secretary category, 10 candidates are contesting: Asim Shah, Ramesh Prasai, Yagyamani Neupane, Sulav Kharel, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Milan Limbu, Rajib Khatry, Bijay Jairu, Hari Dhakal and Himesh Pant.
Five candidates are competing for the women’s joint general secretary post — Juli Yadav, Bidushi Sharma, Kamini Kumari Chaudhary, Nisha Dangi and Reema Bishwakarma.
