RAUTAHAT, July 27: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has given police a 24-hour ultimatum to arrest those involved in the black ink attack on its House of Representatives member Ganesh Paudel, warning of protests if no action is taken.
Paudel on Monday visited the Garuda Area Police Office with RSP leaders and supporters and formally filed a complaint, demanding strict legal action against those responsible.
DSP Shankar Prasad Acharya, chief of the Garuda Area Police Office, said police have intensified the search and investigation and are actively working to identify and arrest the suspects.

RSP leader Janak Raj Bharti, who accompanied Paudel to the police office, said it was concerning that no arrests had been made even seven days after the incident. He questioned the effectiveness of the security agencies, saying that if police could not ensure justice in an attack on a sitting lawmaker, it raised serious concerns about public safety.
In a separate statement, the RSP’s Rautahat chapter warned that it would launch strong protests if the suspects were not arrested and brought to justice within 24 hours.
Paudel was attacked with black ink last Thursday night while meeting residents at the Ram Janaki Monastery in Parsagaun, Gadhimai Municipality-4.
He had earlier held discussions with residents of Samanpur, Baluwa and Gamhariya in his constituency, Rautahat-4, before attending the event in Parsagaun.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of four to five youths entered the venue at around 8 pm, scattered posters and pamphlets, shouted slogans, and splashed black ink on the lawmaker from behind before fleeing the scene.
Security has since been tightened across the district.
