KATHMANDU, Jan 13: CPN-UML Jhapa Chair Prem Giri has accused the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) of hatching a strategy to politically sideline Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) from Jhapa.
Giri alleged that “invisible forces” have forcibly aligned Kulman Ghising and Balen with the RSP. “Kulman ji has already been sidelined, and the RSP cannot genuinely accept Balen either,” he said. “The party has devised a plan to end Balen’s politics from Jhapa. Even here, RSP cadres are unwilling to accept him.”
What leaders said about the late NC leader Pradeep Giri
Claiming that “invisible forces” had projected Balen as a prime ministerial candidate, Giri said the move was not well received within the RSP. “Rabi Lamichhane and other leaders and cadres worked hard to build the party. They are in no position to accept someone else as prime minister,” he added. According to Giri, the RSP was compelled by circumstances to name Balen as a prime ministerial face.
He further claimed that the so-called “Balen narrative” may have been promoted to create political pressure on former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Emphasizing the UML’s organizational strength, Giri asserted that Chair Oli would secure a decisive victory in Jhapa Constituency-5.
