KATHMANDU, April 9: The ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to support Ruby Kumari Thakur, 25, of the Shram Sanskriti Party for the post of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Thakur, 25, was elected as a lawmaker under the Proportional Representation (PR) system.

While Thakur has filed her nomination for the post, Saraswati Lama of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has also filed her nomination. The nomination registration window for the post was open from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Thursday.
Earlier, RPP Parliamentary Party (PP) leader Gyanendra Shahi said his party is filing a nomination with RSP’s support. “We are on our way to Singha Durbar to submit the nomination after RSP assured us of its support,” he told Republica in a brief telephone conversation.
