During the call, Lavrov told Rubio that, upon Russian President Vladimir Putin's instructions, the Russian armed forces are beginning to systematically strike sites used by Ukraine's armed forces in Kyiv and corresponding decision-making centers.
This is in response to Ukraine's continued attacks against the civilian population and infrastructure in Russia, he added.
The Ministry noted that the Russian Foreign Minister reminded his American counterpart of the highest-level agreements reached in Anchorage in August 2025 regarding the war in Ukraine.
Both sides reiterated mutual commitment to invigorate efforts to normalize the work of the Russian and US diplomatic missions in each other's territories, it added.
