ITAHARI, June 7: Sagar Dahal has been elected chairperson of the Sunsari district committee of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), according to results announced late Saturday following the party’s district convention.
Dahal secured 142 votes to win the leadership race. He had previously served as coordinator of the party’s ad hoc district committee.

His closest rivals, Krishna Rauniyar and Mohan Niraula, received 74 and 62 votes respectively, while Chakra Bista garnered 10 votes.
In the race for vice-chairperson, Rajeshman Shrestha emerged victorious with 197 votes, defeating Devika Bhandari, who received 74 votes.
Rajaram Kumar Mehta was elected unopposed as secretary, while Yogendra Giri was selected unopposed as joint secretary. The convention also elected Laxmi Subedi, Rajkumari Mehta, Renuka Harijan, Dharambir Arya and Gokul Thapa to district committee positions.
The election was held after intervention from the party leadership amid disputes and scuffles that reportedly broke out during the convention proceedings earlier on Saturday.
