KATHMANDU, April 2: The Secondary Education Examination (SEE) is set to begin on Thursday, with preparations now complete, according to Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, Deputy Controller of Examinations for Grade 10 at the National Examination Board.
The exams will start at 8:00 am, with a total of 512,471 students registered to attend the exams this year. A total of 1,965 exam centers have been set up across Nepal, with an additional center in Japan, bringing the total to 1,966. Students from 11,379 schools will appear for the exams. Kathmandu has the highest number of candidates, while Manang has the fewest. In Kathmandu, 41,155 students will sit for exams across 135 centers, whereas Manang has a single center with 37 students. The Japan center will accommodate 23 students.
This year, 65,895 students are also taking the exams to improve their grades. Students who have failed in the past are given at least three opportunities to retake the exams, Gyawali said.
SEE results vibe!
Arrangements have been made for students in juvenile rehabilitation centers to take exams at nearby centers. The center chief will send exam papers and invigilators to conduct the exams on-site. Once exams are completed, answer sheets will either be checked at the same center or sent separately to the Examination Controller’s Office if from a different center.
Special provisions have been made for students with disabilities. Depending on the type of disability, extra time and writing assistants are provided. Such students will receive an additional 1 hour and 30 minutes for three-hour exams, with writing support provided by students up to Grade 9.
Students have been instructed to arrive at exam centers on time, bring their admit cards and necessary writing materials, and avoid bringing prohibited items, including mobile phones.
The Examination Controller’s Office has prepared to release SEE results within one month. Gyawali noted that unlike previous years, when results could take up to three months, the government has directed faster publication. Answer sheets will be checked at exam centers on the same day, and marks will be sent to the Education Development and Coordination Unit, which will forward them to the Examination Controller’s Office.
With this system in place, students can expect to receive their results within a month.
