Six arrested for allegedly trafficking women abroad

KATHMANDU, June 5: Police have arrested six individuals on charges of illegally sending women abroad, according to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.



Office spokesperson Sharad Kumar Thapa Chhetri said those arrested include Kedar Bahadur Khadka, also known as Ashish, of Dharmadevi Municipality-9 in Sankhuwasabha; Ishwar Neupane of Barhabise-4 in Sindhupalchok; Ram Bahadur Chhetri of Darbar Rural Municipality-2 in Gulmi; and Prakash Sah of Krishna Sabram-2 in Saptari.

Also arrested were Kumar Urau of Sundarharaicha Municipality-4 in Morang and Pashupati Rai of Jantedhunga Rural Municipality-3 in Khotang.


The suspects were apprehended on Wednesday and Thursday. During the operation, police seized cash amounting to Rs 3.18 million from the accused.


Further investigation into the case is underway.
