KATHMANDU, May 10: The Ministry of Youth and Sports has directed the National Sports Council (NSC) to seek clarification from the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and take necessary action for allegedly failing to cooperate with an investigation being conducted by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
According to the ministry, complaints forwarded by the CIAA on December 1, 2024, and March 5, 2025, remain unresolved, with related files reportedly left pending without a decision.
The ministry stated that CAN had not submitted the required responses and supporting documents requested through the NSC. It has now instructed the council to issue a final warning to CAN and proceed with action under Section 29 of the relevant law if the conditions are not met.

Responding to the matter, CAN spokesperson Chhumbi Lama said the cricket body would comply with government procedures and provide all documents requested by the authorities.
“We will submit all the documents requested by the authorities and follow government regulations,” Lama told Republica.
CAN officials are currently in Biratnagar for the association’s annual general meeting.
