KATHMANDU, July 13: The Sudurpaschim Provincial Government has failed to spend Rs 12.59 billion allocated for the fiscal year 2025/26, leaving 38 percent of its annual budget unused by the end of the fiscal year.
The province had approved a budget of Rs 33.43 billion for the fiscal year. However, it spent only Rs 20.83 billion, or about 62 percent of the total allocation, according to the Provincial Treasury Comptroller Office. The remaining Rs 12.59 billion lapsed at the close of the fiscal year.
What is missing in budget for agriculture?
The office said the province's overall budget execution this fiscal year was weaker than in the previous year.
Of the total budget, Rs 13.59 billion had been allocated for recurrent expenditure and Rs 19.82 billion for capital expenditure. The provincial government utilized only Rs 9.27 billion under recurrent expenditure and Rs 11.54 billion under capital expenditure.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development received the largest allocation of Rs 15.28 billion. However, it spent only Rs 9.17 billion, or about 60 percent of its budget, leaving Rs 6.10 billion unspent.
