Tensions erupt in HoR after UML MP Rai asks Speaker, "Can you hear?"

KATHMANDU, July 8: Tensions flared in the House of Representatives (HoR) on Wednesday after a CPN-UML lawmaker asked Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal whether he could hear, prompting the Speaker to adjourn the meeting for 15 minutes.



As soon as he took the floor, UML lawmaker Rajendra Rai said, "Honorable Speaker, I have a request. Can you hear or not?" The Speaker immediately interrupted him, instructing him not to proceed and urging him to maintain parliamentary decorum.

"I will not allow you to continue. Please keep your remarks within the bounds of parliamentary decorum," Aryal told Rai before asking him to take his seat.


Tika Sangraula also objected to Rai's remarks and demanded that they be expunged from the parliamentary record.
