JANAKPURDHAM, July 18: Dhanusha police have arrested three members of the same family on charges of defrauding a bank of Rs 40 million.
Those arrested are Gopal Sah, 53, of Kapileshwor, Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City-16; his wife Rekha Sah, 48; and their son Hareram Sah, 32. The trio had been absconding in connection with cases involving fraudulent financial transactions and fraud, according to Rupak Khadka, superintendent of police at the District Police Office, Dhanusha.

According to SP Khadka, Gopal Sah was arrested from a hotel in Janakpurdham, Rekha Sah was apprehended at the Jatahi border checkpoint in Nagarain Municipality, Dhanusha, and Hareram Sah was arrested in Kathmandu.
Police said Govinda Kumar Sah, a resident of Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City-2, had borrowed Rs 9.9 million from Gopal Sah by mortgaging his land. After the land was registered as collateral, however, Gopal Sah, along with the other two accused, allegedly obtained a Rs 40 million bank loan by using the same property as collateral without the landowner's knowledge.
During a search of Gopal Sah's residence in Janakpurdham, police recovered 50 land ownership certificates, 18 citizenship certificates, a laptop, and various official stamps and maps, SP Khadka said.
Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
