According to the DHM, most hilly and mountainous regions—including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces—are currently experiencing generally cloudy conditions, while the Terai region of Sudurpaschim Province remains largely clear.

Rainfall has already been recorded in several areas. Continuous rain has been reported for over an hour in Jhuvali of Chitwan, Dumkauli of Nawalpur, Udaypurgadhi of Udaypur and Damauli of Tanahun.

Data from the past 24 hours show that Phopli in Pyuthan recorded the highest rainfall at 97.6 mm, followed by Phaleni in Lamjung with 88.2 mm, according to the DHM.

Saturday evening’s downpour also triggered flooding in Kavre, washing away diversions along the BP Highway and disrupting vehicular movement.

The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy this afternoon in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, while the rest of the country will witness partly cloudy skies.

There are chances of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some parts of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Similar conditions are likely in a few areas of the hilly and mountainous regions of Madhes, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Isolated rainfall is also possible in one or two places in the Terai region of Lumbini Province.

Meanwhile, hot conditions are likely to persist in the Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

For tonight, the DHM has forecast generally cloudy conditions in the hilly and mountainous regions and partly cloudy skies in the Terai. Light rain and snowfall are likely at a few locations in the mountainous areas across Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
