TikTok removes nearly 2 million videos in Nepal in first quarter of 2026

KATHMANDU, July 9: TikTok removed nearly two million videos in Nepal for violating its Community Guidelines during the first quarter of 2026, according to the company's latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report. 



According to a press statement from TikTok, the platform removed 1,961,698 videos in Nepal between January and March 2026, accounting for 0.4 per cent of all videos published during the period.


The report states that 99.2 per cent of violating videos were detected and removed proactively, with 86.5 per cent taken down within 24 hours of posting. During the same period, 61,992 videos in Nepal were restored following further review.

Globally, TikTok removed more than 184 million videos (184,012,576) during the quarter, representing about 0.5 percent of all content uploaded to the platform, the company said.


According to the report, 178 million videos were identified and removed through automated detection technologies, while 8.8 million videos were reinstated after additional review. The platform reported a proactive removal rate of 99.3 percent, with 94.4 percent of violating content removed within 24 hours of being posted.


The report also states that TikTok removed more than 86.2 million fake accounts worldwide during the quarter. In addition, it removed 25.7 million accounts suspected of belonging to users under the age of 13 as part of its efforts to enforce age-related policies.


According to the press statement, automated technologies now detect and remove the vast majority of content that violates TikTok's Community Guidelines, reflecting continued improvements in the platform's content moderation systems.


The report also highlights changes in enforcement across different content formats. While the video removal rate remained stable at 0.5 percent, the comment removal rate declined to around 0.2 percent. Meanwhile, enforcement on TikTok LIVE increased, with the LIVE suspension rate reaching 2.7 percent, the highest recorded so far, according to the company.


TikTok said it took action against more than 58.2 million LIVE sessions by issuing warnings or demonetizing them. It also warned or demonetized nearly 22 million LIVE creators, while 4.17 million LIVE sessions were restored after further review.


The company said it publishes its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report periodically to provide greater transparency about how it moderates content and enforces its policies across the platform.
