KATHMANDU, July 2: Police have arrested two people after gold and silver jewellery concealed in an air cargo shipment bound for the United States was seized at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
According to police, the jewellery was discovered during the inspection of a cargo box declared as containing shoes, saris and other garments.

Preliminary investigation found that the shipment had been booked through Unique Cargo and was being sent from Kathmandu to the United States via Apex Logistics.
Police arrested Yagya Raj Subedi, 46, operator of Apex Logistics, and Ram Prasad Dahal (34), operator of Unique Cargo.
The suspects have been handed over to the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office in Gauchar for further legal action, according to Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar Silwal of the Tribhuvan International Airport Security Office.
Police said the seized items included 22 large naugedi necklaces, 44 small naugedi necklaces, 14 pieces of 21-bead ornaments, 16 crescent-shaped ornaments, 20 jantar pendants and other gold and silver jewellery.
