DAMAULI, April 12: Two people riding a scooter were killed after being hit by a car in Tanahun district on Saturday afternoon, police said.
The accident occurred at Gachhepani in Shuklagandaki Municipality-5 when a Toyota car (Ba 11 Cha 7365), en route to Kathmandu from Pokhara, crossed the road divider and struck a scooter (Ga 19 Pa 2988) coming from the opposite direction in its lane, according to the District Police Office.
Both scooter riders sustained critical injuries and later died during treatment. One of the injured was pronounced dead at Gandaki Medical College in Pokhara, while the other died at Tanahun Sewa Hospital in Dulegauda, said Police Inspector Amrit Lamichhane.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be established.
Police have taken the car driver into custody, and further investigation is underway.
