UML proposes new leadership for departments and mass organizations

According to the proposal, former Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali has been suggested as head of the Foreign Affairs Department, while Padma Aryal is proposed for the Parliamentary Affairs Department. Hikmat Karki has been proposed for the National Interest Protection Department.

KATHMANDU, May 21: CPN-UML has proposed new leadership assignments across various party departments and affiliated mass organizations, with several new faces being assigned key responsibilities.



The decision was taken during a Secretariat meeting, which finalized proposed names for departmental heads and in-charges. A final decision is expected in the upcoming Secretariat meeting scheduled for Friday.


According to the proposal, former Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali has been suggested as head of the Foreign Affairs Department, while Padma Aryal is proposed for the Parliamentary Affairs Department. Hikmat Karki has been proposed for the National Interest Protection Department.

Similarly, former minister Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal has been proposed as head of the Organization Department, while Dr Surya Pathak is proposed to lead the publicity and publication wing. Sher Bahadur Tamang has been proposed for the Party School Department.


For other key departments, Ananda Pokharel has been proposed for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Karna Thapa for Industry, Commerce and Supply, and Kranti Burulakoti for Youth and Sports.


Similarly, Gokul Baskota has been proposed for the Land Management Department, while Vindha Pandey is proposed for the Labour and Employment Department.


The UML has also proposed several coordinators for affiliated mass organizations, including youth, student, women, trade union, farmers, and overseas coordination wings.


The final approval of these appointments is expected after Friday’s Secretariat meeting, along with detailed work plans and organizational restructuring decisions.
