US beat Bosnia and Herzegovina to reach round of 16

KATHMANDU, July 2: Co-host the United States advanced to the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 in the Round of 32 on Wednesday.

Playing at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium, the US secured a comfortable victory despite finishing the match with 10 players.


Folarin Balogun gave the Americans the lead in the 45th minute. He was later shown a red card in the 64th minute after a VAR review concluded that he had committed a red-card-worthy foul, reducing the US to 10 men.


Despite the numerical disadvantage, Malik Tillman doubled the lead in the 82nd minute to seal the win.


With the victory, the United States progressed to the round of 16, where they will face Belgium.
