KATHMANDU, June 25: US Charge d’Affaires Scott Urbom paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav at the latter’s office in Lainchaur on Thursday.
During the meeting, the two discussed various dimensions of Nepal-US bilateral relations, according to the Office of the Vice President.
Vice President Yadav said relations between Nepal and the United States have remained close, cordial and cooperative since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1947, founded on mutual respect, understanding, development cooperation and strong people-to-people connections.

He noted that Nepal has always attached high importance to its relationship with the United States while upholding shared values of democracy, human rights and freedom.
Yadav also expressed gratitude for the support the United States has provided to Nepal’s socio-economic development over the decades.
He said the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United States, to be marked next year, would serve as an important milestone reflecting the long-standing friendship and partnership between the two countries.
The Vice President expressed confidence that the United States would continue supporting Nepal’s development efforts in the years ahead.
He also extended congratulations and best wishes to the US government and people on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence.
On the occasion, Charge d’Affaires Urbom described Nepal-US relations as long-standing, historic and multidimensional, adding that the United States is interested in further strengthening the partnership.
He reiterated the United States’ commitment to continued cooperation with Nepal and expressed satisfaction that US-supported projects in Nepal are being implemented smoothly and effectively.
