KATHMANDU, July 19: The water level in Kosi River has reached alarming level with the water flow crossing 200,000 cusecs following incessant rainfall.
The flow of water in the river was recorded at 176,305 cusecs at 8 am on Sunday and it has increased to 209,840 cusecs by 4 pm.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hemraj Ghimire, spokesperson of the District Police Office Saptari, 28 out of 56 gates of the Kosi Barrage have been opened as the water flow has increased. As the water flow has reached the danger level, red flags and red lights have been lit at the Kosi Barrage as a warning.
The local administration has also urged residents living near the river to be on high alert and not to go to the river banks unnecessarily.
