Ensure smooth supply of daily essentials: Lawmakers to govt

KATHMANDU, Sept 7: The lawmakers have urged the government to ease the supplies of daily essentials in the country by considering the ongoing unrest in Tarai districts and upcoming festive season.

They have drawn attention of the government for the regular supplies of the foodstuffs, medicines, clothing, electronic appliances, dairy products and others. During a meeting of the Industry, Commerce and Consumer Committee of the Legislature-Parliament on Monday, the lawmakers have asked the government to address the grievances of the public in regard to crisis of daily essentials.

Lawmaker Kanchanbade Shrestha and Chandra Maharjan said that the government bodies should pay heed for the regular supply of petroleum products. Likewise, lawmakers Mahalaxmi Upadhyay and Shanta Manawi accused the government of failing to curb the black marketeering of the LP gas.

Also speaking at the meeting, lawmakers Narayan Bahadur Karki, Sitaram Bhandari, Rajya Laxmi Shrestha, Shyam Kumar Shrestha and Surendra Kumar Jaisawal, among others urged the government to ease the supplies of daily essentials and the petroleum products in view of coming festive season.


Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Supply, Aindra Prasad Upadhyay, assured of sufficient stuck of daily essentials and petroleum products while Executive Director at the Nepal Oil Corporation, Gopal Bahadur Khadka, expressed commitment to end the shortage of petroleum products.


Likewise, Joint-Secretary at the Ministry, Shambhu Ghimire, familiarized the lawmakers saying that there was a stuck of salts for nine months, sugar for three months and foodstuffs for four months. RSS
