KATHMANDU, Aug. 17: Nepal is set to participate in Australia's Top End T20 Series for the second time. This year, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) will send the Nepal 'A' team to Australia instead of the senior squad.
The Nepal 'A' team competing in the Top End T20 Series comprises a blend of experienced and young players. Led by captain Anil Kumar Sah, the team is well-balanced, making both the coach and players optimistic about achieving positive results.
“The 'A' team is crucial to strengthening Nepali cricket,” said Raju Basnyat, head coach of the Nepal 'A' team. He expressed confidence that the team's thorough preparation would help it achieve positive results in Australia.
Although adapting to the local pitches will be a challenge, Basnyat remains confident in his players' abilities.

“We have been training consistently for the past 10 to 12 days. Our preparation and team dynamics are strong. The team features a commendable mix of experienced and young talent.
“During our time in Australia, we aim to perform well in both the T20 and 50-over formats. I am optimistic that the Nepal 'A' team players will perform well after acclimatizing to the conditions there,” Basnyat said at the team's farewell event.
He also emphasized the importance of maintaining the 'A' team to strengthen Nepali cricket.
“In the long run, the concept of the Nepal 'A' team is highly beneficial. Recently, several players from the 'A' team have moved up to the senior team.
“Similarly, the practice of senior team players joining the 'A' team to regain their form also underscores the importance of the 'A' team in strengthening Nepali cricket,” Basnyat said.
In the series, Nepal will play its first match against Northern Territory Strike on August 21. It is scheduled to face Bangladesh High Performance on August 22, Hobart Hurricanes on August 24,
Australian Capital Territory on August 26, Hyderabad Kingsmen Academy on August 27 and Victoria CA XI on August 29.
