KATHMANDU, May 14: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chief Whip Khusbu Oli has raised concerns over Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s accountability in Parliament, questioning his repeated absence from the House of Representatives (HoR) proceedings.
Speaking during Thursday’s HoR meeting, Oli said democracy is not merely about winning elections but about continuous dialogue and accountability.

She stressed that the Prime Minister’s presence in Parliament should not be symbolic but essential for ensuring government accountability.
Recalling earlier sessions, Oli said the Prime Minister had left the HoR without addressing lawmakers during the first session and again walked out during the second session while the policy and programme discussion was underway. She added that although the Prime Minister may have his own constraints, such actions do not reflect parliamentary accountability.
Oli further said that when issues such as squatter settlements and the Constitutional Council are raised in Parliament, the Prime Minister responds through social media instead of the HoR.
Urging stronger parliamentary responsibility, she said the Prime Minister’s voice should guide the nation and called on the Speaker to ensure his regular participation in Parliament.
