Three election police personnel die in Baitadi in one month

According to Suraj Singh, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Baitadi, Bhatta was stationed at the Area Police Office in Melauli. He returned home last night after completing his duty when he suddenly collapsed.

BAITADI, Feb 24: Another election police personnel recruited for security during the upcoming elections has died in Baitadi, taking the total number of such deaths in the district to three within a month.



The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Rajendra Prasad Bhatta of Hataranga, Ward-6 of Melauli Municipality. According to Suraj Singh, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Baitadi, Bhatta was stationed at the Area Police Office in Melauli. He returned home last night after completing his duty when he suddenly collapsed.

He was rushed to Kesharpur Primary Health Center, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival late last night. Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.


Earlier, on February 20, 38-year-old election security personnel Mahadev Oad of Babeta, Ward-4 of Dasharathchand Municipality, died after he was found unconscious at home. He was declared dead upon being taken to the District Hospital.


Similarly, in the first week of February, 32-year-old election police personnel Prakash Chand of Ward-4 of Dasharathchand Municipality died after falling off a cliff.
