GULMI, Jan 2: Two people were killed and two others injured after a school bus collided with a motorcycle in Malika Rural Municipality, Gulmi, on Thursday morning.
The bus, belonging to Siddha English Boarding School (Lu Pra 01-00 Kha 0355), was carrying students from Ramche to Purkot in Madane Rural Municipality for a picnic when it struck a motorcycle (Lu 9 Pa 8150) coming from the opposite direction.
Gulmi bus mishap death toll climbs to 7
According to Ganga Bahadur Saru, information officer at the District Police Office, Gulmi, the deceased have been identified as 36-year-old Basanta Aryal of Malika Rural Municipality-6, Mauwa, and his sister-in-law, 56-year-old Manakala Aryal, who were riding the motorcycle.
Four people were injured in the accident. Basanta and Manakala were taken to Gulmi Hospital, Tamghas, where doctors pronounced them dead.
The injured include Manakala’s six-year-old grandson, Anubhav Giri, and 41-year-old Lilawati Aryal, a teacher at Jamarpokhara Secondary School and a pedestrian from Malika Rural Municipality-6, Ramche. Giri has been referred to Palpa for further treatment, while Aryal is receiving treatment at Gulmi Hospital, police said.
