22 candidates open bank accounts for election purposes

The Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee has reported that 22 out of 23 candidates for Baglung constituency no. 1 and constituency no. 2 for the House of Representatives elections have so far opened bank accounts.

BAGLUNG, Feb 27: Twenty-two candidates of Baglung have opened bank accounts for election spending purposes. 



The Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee has reported that 22 out of 23 candidates for Baglung constituency- 1 and 2 for the House of Representatives elections have so far opened bank accounts.

Treasury Controller of the Treasury and Accounts Control Office, Kishor Kumar Shrestha, informed that candidates should manage their expenses and income through these accounts. According to him, one candidate in constituency 1 has not yet opened a bank account. 


The Election Commission has set a limit of expenses up to Rs 2.9 million for a candidate in Baglung. 


In order to check financial manipulation during the election and ensure spending transparency, candidate expenses will be monitored. 


"This time the Commission has arranged for candidates to open accounts to be used only for election purposes to prevent overspending", he said.
