RAUTAHAT, Feb 23: Tension has once again gripped Birgunj Metropolitan City as authorities imposed a curfew and deployed the Nepali Army following clashes between two communities over a vehicle parking dispute in Ward No. 11, Shreepur.
The situation turned violent on Sunday evening after the dispute escalated into a clash between members of the two communities, briefly throwing the area into chaos. To control the situation, personnel from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force Nepal used baton charges to disperse the agitated crowds.

However, tensions resurfaced on Monday morning as protesters again took to the streets, chanting slogans and gathering in large numbers. In response, the local administration imposed a curfew starting at 9:45 AM to prevent further violence.
Authorities have urged residents to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary movement. Security has been significantly tightened, with security personnel from Nepal Police, APF, and the Nepali Army deployed in sensitive areas, Parsa District Police Chief SP Naresh Raj Subedi confirmed.
The District Administration Office, Parsa, has also appealed to the public not to spread rumours and to help maintain social harmony as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
