KATHMANDU, July 30: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has initiated efforts to prevent the misuse and encroachment of land belonging to government hospitals across Nepal.
Following complaints that land owned by several hospitals, health centers and laboratories has been encroached upon, the MoHP has issued a circular requesting details of properties under their name within seven days.

Health Minister Pradeep Paudel is also taking steps to protect land belonging to the Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre, where plans are underway to expand services on the encroached land.
Due to the lack of accurate land records in some facilities, the ministry noted that it has faced challenges in taking legal action. The ongoing campaign aims to collect verified data and move forward with protective measures.
MoHP Spokesperson Dr Prakash Budhathoki said the initiative is expected to bring positive outcomes in safeguarding federal hospital properties.
