KATHMANDU, June 13: Minister for Information and Communication Dr Bikram Timilsina emphasized the integral role of language, literature, and culture in defining a nation's strength and identity. While addressing the 'Madhupark Samman-2083' event here in the federal capital, Kathmandu, today, Minister Timilsina came with the view.
He argued that true prosperity is unattainable without the protection and promotion of these cultural elements, alongside physical infrastructure and economic growth. Timilsina highlighted the importance of advancing literature in tandem with technological advancements, noting that social media has emerged as a crucial platform for literary expression. He raised concerns about the financial challenges faced by government and public media organizations, as well as literary and cultural institutions, urging these entities to enhance their operational and management capabilities rather than relying solely on increased funding.

Minister Timilsina pointed out the detrimental effects of using these institutions for political patronage, which has led to a decline in their effectiveness. He acknowledged the current difficulties and outlined a clear reform strategy aimed at addressing these issues, calling for accountability and collaboration across all sectors to foster institutional advancement.
Minister Timilsina expressed optimism for the future, hoping that institutions would evolve with renewed energy, innovative ideas, and improved methodologies.
The event recognized notable contributions to literature, awarding senior writers Yadav Kharel, Bhaupanthi, and Geeta Tripathi with cash prizes and certificates.
