197 firms lose their charm as turnover inclines slightly to Rs 4 billion

KATHMANDU, Dec 14: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday decreased 12.50 points to close at 2,594.87 points.



The secondary market opened at 2,607.37 points and inclines to the day’s high at 2,614.23 points in the first 25 minutes. In the next moment, the market gradually declined and reached the day’s low at 2,588.58 points in the last seven minutes. The market recovered six points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Banking and mutual funds were the only two gainers that added 0.11 points and 0.10 points in their market values. Of the 11 losers, life insurance declined by the largest of 115.65 points.


The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased 0.79 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 4.007 billion from Rs 3.49 billion. 


Among the individual companies, 56 were gainers while 197 were recorded as losers. Kumari Bank Limited Promoter Share had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 261.85 million.


City Hotel Limited had the highest fall of 6.26 percent in its market price. Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, by gaining 10 percent, was listed as the highest gainer.
