KATHMANDU, April 21: The Birgunj Customs Office has collected Rs 177.66 billion in revenue during the first nine months of the current fiscal year.
The revenue collection marks an increase of Rs 16.20 billion, or around 10 percent, compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.

According to Information Officer Uday Singh Bista, the office has achieved 89 percent of its nine-month revenue target. The Department of Customs had set a target of Rs 199.34 billion for the period.
Monthly data shows that the office collected Rs 18.44 billion in Shrawan (mid-July to mid-August), Rs 20.73 billion in Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September), Rs 19.09 billion in Ashoj (mid-September to mid-October), Rs 17.33 billion in Kartik (mid-October to mid-November), and Rs 20.80 billion in Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December). Similarly, Rs 20.20 billion was collected in Poush (mid-December to mid-January), Rs 18.92 billion in Magh (mid-January to mid-February), Rs 19.34 billion in Falgun (mid-February to mid-March), and Rs 22.82 billion in Chaitra (mid-March to mid-April).
The annual revenue target for the office has been set at Rs 273.39 billion. So far, only 65 percent of the yearly target has been achieved in nine months.
With three months remaining in the fiscal year, officials remain optimistic about further revenue growth.
