KATHMANDU, April 29: An agreement related to the second phase of the Ring Road expansion project was formally signed on Wednesday.
The agreement was signed between Sunil Lamsal, Minister for Physical Infrastructure, Transport and Urban Development, and Zhang Maoming, China’s ambassador to Nepal.
Ring Road cleanup campaign begins from Saturday
Under the agreement, the second phase of the Ring Road expansion will include the construction and upgrading of an 8.2-kilometer road section and bridges from Kalanki to Basundhara. The China government will provide a grant assistance of around Rs 11 billion for the project.
The first phase of the Ring Road expansion, covering the Koteshwor–Kalanki section, had already been completed after beginning in 2019.
Following the signing ceremony, Minister Lamsal said any problems arising during project implementation would be resolved promptly, adding that the government would provide necessary facilitation. He noted that roads connecting the north and south remain a government priority and expressed hope for further Chinese investment in Nepal’s infrastructure sector.
Ambassador Zhang Maoming stated that more Chinese investors would be interested in investing in Nepal if a favorable investment environment is ensured.
