KATHMANDU, April 27: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming on Monday paid a courtesy call on Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel.
The meeting, held at the ministry in Singha Durbar, focused on cooperation and collaboration between Nepal and China in the fields of education, science, technology, and sports, according to Minister Pokharel’s secretariat.

Discussions centered on school infrastructure development, the integration of digital systems in teaching and learning, institutional capacity building, and other contemporary issues. The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening longstanding bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between Nepal and China.
Minister Pokharel, who also serves as the government spokesperson, expressed interest in further enhancing collaboration with the Chinese government, particularly in developing school infrastructure and institutionalizing digital education systems. He also highlighted the need for the timely completion of ongoing education projects and called for the promotion of scholarships provided by the Chinese government in line with the interests of Nepali youth.
Ambassador Maoming expressed China’s willingness to support the priorities outlined by the Government of Nepal and to continue strengthening partnership and cooperation.
Both sides agreed to further deepen multifaceted relations and advance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
