Discussion with political parties positive towards election: Spokesperson Kharel

KATHMANDU, Oct 22: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, has informed that the government held a thorough discussion with major political parties on the March 5 election to the House of Representatives.



Prime Minister Sushila Karki made it clear before the political parties that the government was committed to holding the March 5 election in a free and fair atmosphere.


During the meeting called by PM Karki, the political parties wanted an adequate security situation for the election. In the meeting held at PM’s official residence, Baluwatar, all political parties were positive towards elections, Minister Kharel added.

“The government is encouraged after the discussion held with the political parties. Even the political parties were urged to support the government in creating a conducive atmosphere for the election,” Kharel, also the spokesman of the government, told the media following the meeting on Tuesday evening.


Even the need for a fair investigation into arson and vandalism was raised in the meeting. 


The leaders of seven political parties that had represented in the dissolved House of Representatives, including the Nepali Congress, the CPN-UML, the CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), and the Rastriya Swatantra Party, were present on the occasion. 


Earlier on Tuesday itself, the government had discussed with those injured in the Gen-Z protest.
